However, this venture as an author is not a "hobby" for me, it is my wish that this will become my second career and as such, promotion of myself and my works is an important piece of the puzzle. The difficulty of this is that all of this takes time. I think that I've done a pretty good job so far at building this website and mostly in building my Twitter presence. One of the things that I have struggled with is that I do not yet have a Facebook presence. This is an intentional decision on my part, not because I think it's unimportant but more so that at this point in my life I need to pick and choose the aspects of social media that I want to concentrate on. I'm not about to take on yet another avenue of social media only to realize that I don't have the time to devote to it and to keep content fresh.
One day I will write the "great Canadian novel" and if I'm fortunate enough to make a decent amount of money off of it then perhaps that's when I can actually pay my social media guru to help me with the content!
