In an ideal world, a new author will have the perfect product developed as the same time as he or she has the ideal marketing strategy and digital presence. The reality for most of us is that unless some of this work is outsourced, our efforts are split.
In my own case, I've been working diligently over the last few months as I continue to build my digital presence and try to define and refine my marketing and sales strategies. That having been said though, it's very difficult to test marketing strategies without first having a product to put up on the marketplace! An amazing novel is no guarantee of sales. As I become more familiar with both the Kobo and Amazon marketplace, I can see firsthand the vast number of books that are available to the consumer. It becomes apparent to me that how well my novel or books are marketed are as equally importance of the quality of my stories.
Can't market anything if I don't have a book. Can't sell anything if I don't have a market plan!
